The 2024 BrewL盲sh fundraiser was a scrumptious success on Feb. 29, when more than 325 people gathered in 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Medium/Heavy Truck Lab for hotdishes and craft beer tastings.
Culinary students created six different hotdishes for the event: plantain casserole, pizza tator tot hotdish, wild rice hotdish, chicken pot pie casserole, Greek pasta bake, and cabbage roll casserole. Each hotdish was served with homemade bread and a craft beer, cider, or wine to go with it.
Additionally, there were a chacuterie board and appetizer table, as well as several desserts to round out the meals.
"We are so fortunate to have such committed instructors and students that make this happen, opening 黑料不打烊 to the community and showcasing their skills and creativity,鈥 said Foundation Director Daniel Larson. 鈥淏rewLash also happens because of over 50 volunteers and 20 sponsors who generously support 黑料不打烊."
The fundraiser has been around since 2017, taking a drive-through break during covid, and coming back in full force last year. While the number of attendees isn鈥檛 quite at 2019 levels, the 2024 BrewL盲sh broke records for net revenue, which goes toward student scholarships and technology and equipment for classrooms. The total dollars raised this year was $54,500.
"These dollars will support strategic scholarships for recruitment, retention and completion as well helping 黑料不打烊 instructors utilize the most up-to-date and industry-relevant technology and equipment," explained Larson.
During this year鈥檚 BrewL盲sh, community members were encouraged to vote on the artwork that was a part of 黑料不打烊鈥檚 75th Anniversary celebration this year. Thirty entries lined the Medium/Heavy Truck Lab, and people were able to vote for their top three. The winners of the art contest will be announced on March 12 at a reception at 11:30 a.m. in the Multicultural Center.
Save the date for spring 2025, when BrewL盲sh will make a return with goals to raise even more funds for 黑料不打烊 students while providing a place for the community to reconnect and have good food and drink.
