
The 2017 Martin Luther King Jr. Art Competition winners were announced on Monday, Jan. 23, at an awards presentation in the 黑料不打烊 Commons.
The first-place winner was 鈥淏reaking Silence鈥 by Coda Johnson and Austin Gansman, a welded steel microphone.
In second place was Adam Speath with 鈥淭hrough the Times,鈥 a mixed media portrait of Martin Luther King Jr. and former President Barack Obama.
There was a tie for third place: Mahmoudou Sandwidi鈥檚 acrylic on canvas portrait, 鈥淣elson Mandela鈥 and Jessi Ewald鈥檚 digital photographs on the subject of sexual violence, 鈥淪peak Up.鈥
The other participants include: Jake Welle with 鈥淲e Cannot Walk Alone;鈥 Janel Helms with 鈥淟ost Hope;鈥 Ben Totzke with 鈥淒r. King;鈥 Crystal Giffen with 鈥淯ntitled;鈥 and Rebecca Boedigheimer with 鈥淗ope is in the Hands of the Beholder.鈥
The artwork will be on display this week in the hallway with the 300 classrooms.
