First-year Architectural Construction Technology student, Brianna Scherbing, was surprised to learn that a house she designed will be built by Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity.��

Scherbing’s classmates all submitted designs for a six-bedroom, two-bath house that Habitat plans to build for a local family this spring.�� The students’ designs were reviewed by a panel of 12, which included Habitat’s Construction Manager Art Buhs, construction professionals, and additional Habitat staff.�� ��

“I tried to take a very practical approach with my design,” said Scherbing.

Taking the practical approach paid off as Scherbing’s design needed only slight modifications from Habitat’s selection team.��

“Students really seem to enjoy this project,” said Architectural Construction Technology Instructor Jed Johnson. “Brianna did a great job and now she’ll have a nice addition to her resume.”

Continuing a successful partnership between ���ϲ����� and Habitat for Humanity, the split-level home will be the third house Habitat has built using designs created by ���ϲ����� Architectural Construction Technology students.��

“This project is a great way to engage the students,” said Buhs.����
