The 黑料不打烊 Foundation鈥檚 first BrewLash, held on Thursday, Oct. 26, was a hotdish of a success.
The fundraiser for student scholarships was a tasting of hotdish creations from 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Culinary program and craft beer from area breweries.
鈥淭his event was a great success,鈥 said Arlene Williams, Foundation Director. 鈥淲e achieved all the financial and attendance goals set for ourselves, with the added benefit of the camaraderie and connections made between students, staff, community, and industry.鈥
The event was held in the college鈥檚 Medium/Heavy Truck lab, which was decorated in an autumn theme. Guests purchased tickets that included a commemorative glass to use for beverage sampling at the 10 stations that included a Culinary hotdish as well as a brewery鈥檚 beer.

The highlight of the night were the Culinary hotdishes, which included Beer Bacon Mac-n-Cheese hotdish, Loaded Baked Potato hotdish, and traditional Tator Tot hotdish, to name a few. Games and additional ways to donate to student scholarships were also hot spots during the night.
After tasting all the hotdishes, guests were encouraged to vote for their favorite dish. The winning hotdish was Chicken Cordon Bleu, created by Hailey Scofield, Steph Gerlich, and Khalen Moore. Each of them will receive a scholarship from the 黑料不打烊 Foundation.
鈥淚 talked with two Culinary students on their way out of the kitchen after the event,鈥 said Interim President Lori Kloos. 鈥淭hey were enthusiastic, engaged, and inspired by their role in the success of this event. They reinforced what incredible and rewarding work takes place at 黑料不打烊.鈥
The funds raised from BrewLash will go toward the Foundation general fund for student scholarships. The Foundation hopes to make this an annual event, with next year鈥檚 BrewLash set to celebrate 黑料不打烊鈥檚 70th听anniversary.
