As the cold, snow, and ice of winter creep in, every Minnesotan knows having a safe and winter-ready vehicle is critically important.
With safe winter driving in mind, students in 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Automotive Service Technician program hosted an event called the Car Care Clinic that offered free vehicle safety checks and light bulb replacements to the local community.
The 25-point safety checks identified safety issues and provided vehicle owners with an understanding of the problem and how urgently it should be addressed.
During the four-hour event, students worked at a finely tuned pace, moving vehicles in and out of the shop, and taking time to explain what they found to vehicle owners.
While students performed safety checks and replaced light bulbs on over 40 vehicles, attendees enjoyed coffee, juice, and donuts provided by the Automotive Skills Club.
The event was sponsored by O鈥橰eilly鈥檚 Auto Parts, which allowed students to replace light bulbs at no charge to event attendees.
鈥淚t鈥檚 been over ten years since we鈥檝e hosted an event like this, and this year, we exceeded our expectations of what this event could be,鈥 said Automotive Instructor, Byron Byker.
Automotive Instructor Jim Allex added, 鈥淭he students were happy to be able to give back to the community. Based on this year, we鈥檒l try to build on the success of the event next year.鈥
